porte-rouge asked: i think abortion should be legal as it is: up to the mid 2nd trimester. if the fetus isn't viable outside the womb, it's fair game.

what a way to put it……. fair game………….. do you have any idea what is going on in the 2nd trimester?

Please take a look at this website and understand how you must change your mind.

peanuuutmilk asked: Abortion is actually 13 times safer than child birth. That aside, prior to Roe v. Wade, more than 5,000 women died annually in the United States due to unsafe, illegal abortions. The issue of legality has never, ever stopped women from having abortions. Last year more than 58,000 women died seeking abortion in their countries, where it IS illegal and the only option available to them is "back-alley" abortions. How can you say you support women's health, when they die from what you advocate?

No.

While some women died from illegal abortions prior to Roe V. Wade, the claim that thousands died annually is just false. Dr. Mary Calderone, former medical director for Planned Parenthood, wrote in 1960 that illegal abortions were performed safely by physicians in good standing in their communities. True, this doesn’t prove no woman will die ever from an illegal abortion, but it does call into question the ridiculous claim of high mortality rates prior to legalization. Here’s Calderone’s quote in context:

“Abortion is no longer a dangerous procedure. This applies not just to therapeutic abortions as performed in hospitals but also to so-called illegal abortions as done by physicians. In 1957 there were only 260 deaths in the whole country attributed to abortion of ANY kind. In New York city in 1921 there were 144 abortion deaths, in 1951 there were only 15; and, while the abortion death rate was going down so strikingly in that 30 year period, we know what happened to the population and the birth rate. Two corollary factors must be mentioned here; first, chemotherapy and antibiotics have come in, benefiting all surgical procedures as well as abortion. Second, and even more important, the conference estimated that 90 per cent of all illegal abortions are presently being done by physicians. Call them what you will, abortionists or anything else, they are still physicians, trained as such; and many of them are in good standing in their communities. They must do a pretty good job if the death rate is as low as it is. Whatever trouble arises usually comes after self-induced abortions, which comprise approximately 8 percent, or with the very small percentage that go to some kind of non-medical abortionist.”

Dr. Tietze’s claim of 5,000 deaths a year (from whom I’m assuming you got this number, since he’s the one who fabricated it) later denied his statement as a lie and said that his lie was “unmitigated nonsense”.

Anonymous asked: Hi! I am really happy I found your tumblr! I have a hard time getting why I am pro-life across in words. I have so many valid arguments in my head but when I try to speak them it doesn't go so well! Anyways I'm glad there are people like you who can get their point across clearly. I get too upset most of the time to express my feelings. Just wanted to say you're a great person for wanting to protect the lives of the unborn!

Never get angry, except on purpose. Answer the person, not just the question and do not stop learning and talking. Let’s spread the message of life together. Do not give up. 3700 babies will die tomorrow and we have to do something about it!!! We have to do all that we can! Be informed, and inform!!! =)

storybook asked: "Partial birth" is not a medical term. This is a term made up by pro-lifers who don't understand that this is not an elective procedure, it's done when a fetus has died or the parents want an intact body to hold and mourn. It is done on WANTED pregnancies that go horribly wrong. Not on healthy, living babies. Please educate yourself. No one decides to abort a child in this procedure if they don't have to for medical reasons. You are heartless.

You mean like the words “choice” and “back alley abortions” are? This is pure sophistry. “Battery” and “sexual assault” aren’t medical terms either. They’re legal terms, descriptions of what the law prohibits. That fact that the medical community has not dignified this particular form of infanticide with a name doesn’t mean legislatures can’t ban it…

Would you rather me define what you desperately want you defend?

“An abortion in which the person performing the abortion deliberately and intentionally vaginally delivers a living fetus until, in the case of a head-first presentation, the entire fetal head is outside the body of the mother, or, in the case of breech presentation, any part of the fetal truck past the navel is outside the body of the mother, for the purpose of performing an overt act that the person knows will kill the partially delivered living fetus; and performs the overt act, other than completion of delivery, that kills the partially delivered living fetus.”

That definition is on the books.

What is with both denying that “partial birth abortions” are made up and then discussing the frequency of this nonexistent term… But partial birth abortions, or whatever the heck you want to call it, are said to be extremely rare, performed only in extenuating circumstances… You know, like pregnancy.

Yet, the man credited with inventing partial birth abortions, Martin Haskell, told American Medical News that 80 percent of the partial birth abortions he performs are “purely elective”…

I don’t play.

visceral-beauty asked: Here's a non-anon. I'm not scared of my opinions or of letting you know what I think of you. Firstly? your pro life 'victories' are a load of SHIT. Guess what happens when you close more abortion clinics? PEOPLE GET LATER TERM ABORTIONS. Because they're forced to find funding, drive across state, many other obstacles. So instead of people aborting tiny cell clusters they're forced to abort later term fetuses. So that's part one.

They’re forced? Whose forcing them?

forced… Women are NOT forced to have late term abortions; they CHOOSE to have them. I reject the premise that women MUST seek late term abortionists. Suppose these abortion clinics are shut down (which they are being, by the way), why should anyone believe that just because a woman wants an abortion, she can’t stop herself from having one? Such a view demeans women in general especially your movement where you advocate “women’s choice”. A woman is no more forced to have a late term abortion than a young man is forced to rob a bank because the state won’t put him on welfare.
